ISG Provider Lens™ AWS Ecosystem Partners - Germany 2020 - Managed Services Providers
AWS and its Partners have Key Roles in the Response to COVID-19 the Crisis
Even before the COVID-19 crisis, cloud computing was one of the fastest-growing segments of the IT market. In recent years, the flexibility and cost advantages of cloud solutions have made this deployment model for IT applications and infrastructures more popular with time. As a result of the pandemic, the market penetration of cloud-based offers accelerated owing to their advantages and the changing requirements of companies. Relocation of large numbers of employees to the home office at very short notice was often only possible with the help of (collaboration) solutions based on the cloud. Also, the additional cost pressure caused by the crisis is causing many companies to transform their IT landscapes into needsbased and cost-flexible architectures.
Due to their ability to scale quickly and act flexibly, cloud hyperscalers are the biggest beneficiaries of the increasing demand. As one of the world's leading hyperscalers, Amazon Web Services (AWS) benefits in particular from growing customer demand. Owing to its global significance, AWS is an attractive partner for service providers and technology providers. AWS cooperates with service providers and technology providers within the framework of the AWS Partner Network (APN). The AWS Partner Network is the global program for AWS partners. It helps APN partners develop AWS-based businesses and solutions by providing business and technical support as well as support in sales and marketing. With the rapidly growing importance of AWS as an IT provider, the AWS partner ecosystem is also becoming increasingly relevant. The AWS partners are also increasingly benefiting from the growing success of AWS.
The young market for SAP in the AWS cloud continues to grow: SAP in the public cloud is still a relatively young market in Germany; however, the leading German software provider is now relying heavily on provision from the cloud and is also accepting significant declines in profits for growth in this market. The expansion of the SAP product portfolio with AWS and the option of mapping professional workloads also contribute to the market growth of AWS SAP solutions.
Eight providers were able to position themselves as leading AWS-SAP partners in this study: Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, DXC, IBM, Lemongrass, NTT DATA and TCS. ISG identified PwC as a Rising Star.
Users are increasingly relying on data analytics and machine learning and are dependent on strong partners: Data is the ''Oil of the 21st century'' - a view that has been gaining ground in more companies. At the same time, the amount of data, for example from IoT systems, is increasing. Many companies want to use the promising capabilities of the public cloud - especially in the data processing environment - or have to, owing to the size of the data to be analyzed. Due to the high complexity of integration with the existing data storage infrastructure, they depend on a strong partner network from AWS for integration and service management. Service providers support everything from readiness checks and strategy consulting through technical implementation and integration to operation.
Ten AWS partners were able to position themselves as leading providers in this market: Accenture, AllCloud, Atos, Capgemini, DXC, Materna, OPITZ Consulting, tecRacer, The Unbelievable Machine (um) and Wipro. ISG identified Cognizant as the Rising Star.
The current crisis is driving IoT even further forward - and AWS is profiting with its powerful solutions: With the sudden virtualization of collaboration as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, the challenges for IoT solutions have increased to a greater extent. IoT has become an integral part of the digital ttransformation that enterprise customers are resorting to in order to achieve greater operational efficiency and better business optimization through end-to-end connectivity. Implementation is also made possible by the highly scalable AWS IoT solutions.
Eight providers were able to position themselves as leading AWS IoT partners in this study: Accenture, Atos, Capgemini, direkt gruppe, Materna, Reply, Siemens and Software AG. ISG identified Cognizant as the Rising Star.
Migration is a key topic with regard to getting started with AWS-based solutions - and is accelerated by the COVID-19 crisis: In addition to new applications, existing applications are to be migrated to the AWS cloud - all the more so in the current crisis situation, which accelerates transformation processes to the cloud even more. Containers can play a helpful role within the scope of the migration. In addition, affordable and adaptable container technologies have continued to drive investment by customers and service providers. The partner network for AWS migration and containers is an important success factor for AWS. The easier it is for customers to enter the AWS world, the better the AWS business will develop. The migration/container partners play an important role in this case. They support customers in making the switch to the AWS platform, taking all relevant aspects into account.
Eleven AWS partners were able to position themselves as leading providers in this market: Accenture, Atos, Capgemini, Claranet, Cognizant, DXC, IBM, PlusServer, Rackspace Technology, T-Systems and Wipro.
The partner network for AWS consulting is an important success factor for AWS - and helps customers in setting new priorities: Companies that have not yet had any experience with them are increasingly interested in cloud solutions or AWS solutions. Especially in their case, there is often a great need for orientation for the optimal entry into the AWS world. In addition to current opportunities for cost-cutting, change management and digital corporate strategies are increasingly important motives for getting started with AWS solutions. As an essential AWS topic, consulting is also a highly competitive market in Germany. AWS benefits from successful AWS consulting through new business, but the partners themselves can also generate follow-up projects on this basis. Service providers who not only offer consulting, but also support in AWS operation, have good prerequisites for success in the market.
Eleven AWS partners were able to position themselves as leading providers of AWS consulting services in this study: Accenture, Arvato Systems, Atos, Capgemini, Claranet, Cognizant, DXC, Rackspace Technology, T-Systems, tecRacer and Wipro. ISG identified Mphasis as a Rising Star.
Managed service providers with a wide range of services have an advantage: In addition to lack of know-how, the desire for increasing professionalism also contributes to the growing demand for AWS managed services. This is evident from the requirements and expectations of the user companies, which include (hybrid) multi-cloud landscapes, cost savings, security and data protection, experience in operations and end-to-end skills. Service providers that cover the specified spectrum and can also provide references and case studies have an advantage.
Eleven AWS partners were able to position themselves as leading providers of AWS managed services in this study: Accenture, Atos, Capgemini, Claranet, Cognizant, DXC, IBM, Rackspace Technology, T-Systems, tecRacer and Wipro.
